In the summer of 1953, five year old Sandy Ellinson had been found wandering alone across the desert one morning. Her mind had taken refuge in a pleasant dream world to escape the horror that had recently become her reality. The evening before, Giant Ants, mutated by atomic radiation, had attacked their camper/trailer, killing her parents and little brother.
That’s how Sandy became involved in the only known/unknown Giant Ant attack that had ever occurred. Known because of the 1954 movie, THEM, that had been made to help hide the real incident. Unknown because of the success of the 1954 movie, THEM, in helping hide the incident, and because the government had let it be known that anybody that spoke of the real incident would be put in prison for life, no exceptions.
After a brilliant career as a Myrmecologist (Ant Specialist), the widowed Sandy Ericson (formerly Sandy Ellinson) moved back to the location of her childhood tragedy, to study the ants and prepare for THEM to return. Now, when her beautiful granddaughter is visiting, people are starting to mysteriously disappear. All signs say that it’s THEM AGAIN, and it’s up to Sandy to stop them.
In this totally original Sci-Fi comedy homage to the movie, THEM, (which is in Public Domain, and can now be seen for free on the internet), we follow one of the most memorable, but obscure characters in the movie, the Ellinson girl, played to perfection by young Sandy Descher. Even if you’ve never seen the movie, if you like a witty fast paced story, laced with Giant Ants, Tommy-guns, and an ending that will leave you with goose bumps, this is the book for you.

When I stumbled across this novella I was excited; THEM! is one of my favorite movies, and the concept that links this novella to the original movie intrigued me. I was hoked on the idea that the movie was based on an actual event, which the government then tried to cover up.However, I felt the concept failed in its execution. Too many scenes in the novella are copied straight from the movie. I felt it was a bit contrived that the relatives of most of the main characters from the movie just happen to have a roll in the novella. And the climax scenes at the end were either too brief and lacked tension, or played out off camera.

The original movie THEM has been a favourite of mine since I was very young.So to see a sequel to it was great. If you've never seen the movie, by all means do. Them Again takes you back to the beginning and the forward to the rest of the story. I loved it, but I love the 50's B movies about giant bugs, lizards and all the rest. Don't miss this book.
I remember watching "THEM" with my younger brother when we were kids. It was a magical movie for us at that age. Then I recently read "THEM again" and it was if I were watching the sequel to "THEM" with my younger brother after all these years. I enjoyed the story a great deal. It wove an intriguing web, errrr, ant hil,,, it was ...'tricksy'...... And then I got to the END. No, I can't give it away.... I just CAN'T. My younger brother would never forgive me. As he would say, (with the echo of his Granddaughter's voice in the background), "READ THE BOOK". I don't think you will be disappointed. If you are, read it again and pay 'close' attention'. If my opinion means anything, "THEM again" will be a classic and very possibly a sequel for THEM. 'the movie'.... I could have been a 'character' in the story... You could have been a character in the story. It had .....No.... I said I wouldn't......
P.S. I'm browbeating my grown Grandson to read the book so that I can, then, let him watch the movie..... It's one of "THOSE" stories.................
